Rickie & Melvin have been broadcasters on BBC Radio 1 since April 2019. In 2021 they became the hosts of BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. The show is on air from 10:30-12:45pm alongside Charlie Hedges.
Rickie Haywood-Williams, Melvin Odoom and Charlie Hedges, hosted The Kiss Breakfast Show for 12 years. Their on-air chemistry and entertaining mockery was a hit with the Kiss audience. They won Silver at The Sony Radio Awards in 2009 and Gold in 2012 within the most prestigious category, The Breakfast Show Award. In August 2016, Melvin featured on Strictly Come Dancing paired with Janette Manrara. The couple were first to be voted off, but that didn’t stop Melvin pushing back for the top spot only to be crowned 2016’s Christmas champion! Rickie also graced the Strictly Ballroom floor in 2022 for the Christmas special when he wowed audiences with his festive Salsa!
Rickie and Melvin have hosted a plethora of shows including The MOBO Awards, MTV Digs on MTV One, Monday to Saturday between 1600 and 1900 and MTV Music Junkie together — a live studio music show.
In July 2011 Rickie & Melvin hosted Pop Up Pop Quiz across 4Music and T4 on Channel 4.
Sweat the Small Stuff was a British comedy panel show broadcast on BBC Three, presented by Nick Grimshaw and featuring team captains Rickie and Melvin.
They also presented at The BRIT Awards 2010 and the same year presented the backstage online footage for Sky 1′s ‘Must Be The Music’
Rickie & Melvin met at university where they studied Media Performance and Radio at the University of Bedfordshire both earning a degree. Their achievements in the industry lend them to later receive doctorates for their contributions to media.
And they are supporters of various charities as well as ambassadors of the Princes Trust.
