Maya Jama is a British broadcaster, entrepreneur, and social ambassador. She recently graced the cover of Perfect Magazine's Spring/Summer issue and was one of 40 iconic women featured on Edward Enninful's final British Vogue cover. In 2022, she was also named the face of the Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana's Autumn-Winter collection and she is the current host of ITV's Love Island series. In 2024, Maya co-hosted the BRIT Awards on ITV and BBC’s Comic Relief and in 2023 co-hosted The British Fashion Awards.
From presenting slots on local radio stations such as Rinse FM in early 2014, to hosting the Maya Jama show on BBC Radio 1 from 2018 – 2020, Maya landed her first big TV job on MTV Base’s show ‘The Wrap Up’ in 2014, aged just 20. She went on to regularly present for MTV and Channel 4, among other networks. In 2019, Jama hosted 'The Circle' – the popular Channel 4 reality programme, followed by presenting BBC Three competition Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star for its third and fourth series’. In 2022 Jama was announced as the new host of much-loved ITV dating reality series Love Island. Maya was seen in her first acting role as Brenda in Katherine Ryan’s Netflix series ‘The Duchess’ which aired in 2020.
Maya has featured on two Vogue covers and was previously named one of Vogue’s ‘Most Influential Girls’ following a 6-page spread in its 2019 issue, as well as gracing the covers of Sunday Times Style, ES Magazine, Wonderland, Rollercoaster and Women’s Health. A patron of fashion, Maya is a member of the British Fashion Council ‘s Advisory Committee.
Outside of her commercial projects and leaning into her passion for entrepreneurialism, in December 2020, after much anticipation, Maya launched her own face and eye-mask range, MIJ Masks, with its first release selling out within 24 hours. Continuing her love for the beauty space, Maya has recently been announced as the global ambassador for Rimmel London, taking the reins from icons such as Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and Adwoa Aboah to front their global campaigns. She is also an ambassador for Gordon’s Premium Pink Gin and in 2024 announced her own collection with hair brand Beauty Works.
Outside of her broadcast and brand endeavours, Maya is an advocate for social issues and has been a longstanding ambassador for Savera UK which operates to provide services to individuals from Black ethnic minority communities who are at risk of domestic abuse.
