Tara Kumar is a Irish-Indian-Malaysian DJ and Broadcaster from Alice Springs, Australia newly moved to London.
For the past decade Tara has been living in Dublin, Ireland where she worked in radio for the past 6 years and more recently hosting a New Music radio show 5 nights a week on the national broadcaster RTE2FM for the past 3. Tara’s love of music came from a young age when she learnt to play the flute, saxophone, guitar, piano, accordion, mandolin and sing at the age of 9, she studied for over 10 years and became passionate about showcasing artists from around the world.
During her time in RTE2FM and writing for Irish culture publication District Magazine she interviewed the likes of Skepta, Mura Masa, Dua Lipa, Mabel, PinkPantheress, YungBlud, Mahalia, Joy Crookes, Jax Jones and TLC.
As well as being a new music tastemaker she DJed the biggest festivals in Ireland from Electric Picnic, Longitude, Forbidden Fruit and supporting Cher in Dublin for her Arena tour and played for parties for Disney, Magnum, Bumble, Moet Chandon, Veuve Clicquot.
Tara’s first love is music and radio and through music fell in love with fashion which led her onto expressing her style and love of bold colours and vintage online. Through this she has gone onto work with brands like Pandora, Ganni, Size?, JD Sports and Levis.
More recently Tara left her radio show in Ireland to pursue and further her life and career in London. Since moving at the end of 2022 she has been named as Mixmmag’s One’s to Watch for 2023, DJed for GQ Men of the Year Party, Universal Records Brits Afterparty, Bumble and Nike, presented for JD Sports, and presented at Copenhagen Fashion Week for ROTATE and was chosen to cover Clara Amfo’s Future Sounds show as part of the BBC Radio 1’s Christmas Presenters for 2022 she has gone on to cover Jack Saunders Future Artists more recently.
