Peter currently has two projects in the works. One is a
computing-oriented book, the other a new career path.
Peter's new book project, in the proposal stage right now, is about a
new ultra-light, ultra-compact (but very usable) laptop
that
runs the Linux operating system,
weighs two pounds, and is smaller than a
For Dummies book. More details will be forthcoming when (and if) the
book moves from a proposal on to an actual paid project.
The book project is evidence that, while Peter's professional interests
have shifted, he'll probably never leave his interests in computing or
writing behind. Yet Peter's interests have shifted some, back to an old
favorite.
Though Peter has spent most of his working life
designing and writing about computer technologies, his intentions when
left high school and headed off to college were quite different.
Peter has always been
interested in all things biological and medical,
so a degree in Biology seemed a natural educational and career choice as he went to college in 1979.
But the late seventies and early eighties were an exciting time in another
career field, in computing, too, so five years later he completed a degree in
computer science. Now, after two-and-a-half decades working with computers,
he feels it's time to deliver on his old interests.
Peter currently has two academic goals. One is to finish his B.S. in
biology, the other to earn an A.S. degree in medical imaging. Peter's hope
is that these new degrees combined with his computing and writing background
will allow him to forge his own path in a career area that has fascinated him since he was
a teenager.
